Hughes Network Systems and Taiwan-based MTI (Microelectronics Technology) have signed an intellectual property license agreement whereby MTI will produce IPoS-compliant broadband satellite terminals of the Hughes HN7000 series. IPoS (IP over Satellite) is currently the only global standard facilitating broadband services over satellite channels. This license agreement makes MTI the first manufacturer to enter into a licensing agreement with Hughes for IPoS technology, and grants MTI the right to produce broadband routers, outdoor units, and antenna assemblies in the Hughes HN7000 series.
